ABOUT US
OUR PURPOSE
The Newman Center exists to welcome college students into a deeper relationship with Jesus according to the teachings of the Catholic Church which Jesus founded.
OUR MISSION STATEMENT
We are called to be Saints:
Servants who build Fellowship in the Church through FAITH. Martyrs who journey courageously in HOPE, bearing witness to the Gospel.
Disciples who invite others with LOVE into lifelong relationship with the Sacred Heart of Jesus through the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
NEWMAN, PAST AND PRESENT
A Newman Club was first founded at Northwest through the good work of Professors Margaret and Katherine Franken on September 12, 1922. Through the years, it has been the home of the Catholic Faith at Northwest Missouri State University. Today, students of all backgrounds come and encounter Jesus and His Catholic Church through Mass and the Sacraments, by experiencing fellowship in community, in learning the Church's teaching, and by a deeper life of prayer.
